Cravings Coach – My Mentor Dr Paul Bragg

This is Diana Walker. Many people have asked me for my background, and how I became the Cravings Coach!

I started my quest for vibrant health when I was in my twenties.

In 1974, Dr. Paul Bragg came to Vancouver, Canada, to give a lecture on nutrition.  Dr. Bragg, who was 94 years old at the time, was a world-famous Naturopath and Life Extension Specialist.

When he was 16, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and given 3 months to live.

Fortunately, his parents were able to send him to a private health clinic in Switzerland.

At the Clinic, they gave him good nutrition from whole foods and pure water. They taught him the benefits of exercise, deep breathing, fresh air, sunshine, and positive thoughts.

Within a few months, he was able to leave the clinic, free of tuberculosis.

Dr. Paul Bragg devoted his life to teaching health.  He pioneered the health message in North America and lived to age 96. At that time, he was still traveling, lecturing, and leading exercise classes on the beach in Hawaii.

So – back to the lecture I attended in 1974.

This was a turning point in my life. Dr. Paul Bragg stood on stage with a large loaf of white bread, and kneaded it down to the size of a golf ball.

This gave us a visual demonstration of how devoid of nutrition processed foods can be.

I was enthralled.  I received his autograph on two of his books.  Soon after that, I wrote to the address on the books.(There was no internet then!) Within 4 weeks I was over in Honolulu, Hawaii, studying under and working for Dr. Paul Bragg.

He provided a scholarship for me and in 1980, I received my Naturopath Diploma.

I lived a vibrantly healthy lifestyle.

But then, later in my 30s, I found it harder and harder to follow all the health principles I had been taught.

Various habits and cravings like drinking 8 cups of coffee a day, diet sodas, chocolate bars, wine and even smoking crept back into my life. I felt like such a hypocrite.

Knowing so much.  But not living it.

My intense study of Cravings, what causes them, and how we can control them, has led me to today, and now for the past 10 years, I have once again lived a vibrantly healthy lifestyle, free from cravings for all the wrong things for my body.

I would love to help you on your path to freedom from cravings too!

Food Addiction, Cravings and Emotional Eating

I often get questions regarding Food Cravings and Emotions – Emotional Eating.

My friend Lisa deLusignan is a Therapist in Vancouver with many years of helping people with cravings associated with emotional eating.  I am delighted to let you know that Lisa and I got together on Friday and did a 15 minute audio, in which Lisa provides insight and suggestions for you if you crave food in excess when you are stressed.

I would say that I am an emotional eater – and I can have negative self talk – about myself – and being too much of a perfectionist, and then beat myself up.  I catch myself earlier now than I used to.  We all need to have support.

Often emotional eating is connected to what you don’t want to feel.  Do you numb your feelings with food? Our attitudes and thoughts and emotions are so intertwined with our cravings.
