Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Foodist: What Do These Labels Mean? – Show #12

Pomme jaune du jardinIn our quest for good health and longer living, we so often hear the terms vegetarian, vegan and even Raw Food Enthusiasts and Raw Foodists. But do you know what those labels mean and how they differ from one another?

I’m very pleased to be joined again by Kevin Gianni of  Renegade Health and he discusses these differences in Part 2 of our interview together. Very simply, each of these lifestyles puts you more in touch with nature, or gives you a heightened awareness of the world around you.

No matter which of these philosophies you subscribe to, all three will improve your overall health, increase your energy, and make you more aware of the toxins in our everyday world.

What Is A Raw Food Diet? – Show #11

Veg Box SundayHow have you managed my little challenges of limiting your intake of coffee and soda? Have you been able to achieve these small baby steps in order to improve your overall health?

My guest this week is Kevin Gianni of Renegade Health  and he is a firm believer in taking those baby steps so the changes you make will last you a lifetime. In Part 1 of my interview, Kevin explains how he became an advocate of the raw food diet, the experts who have influenced and taught him about health, and how he has been able to change his eating and health over an 8 year period.

Kevin Gianni went from a “Beer Slugging Loser” (his words!) to a Fitness Expert, teaching Holistic, Healthy Living.  Kevin explains what raw food is, how your body adjusts to dietary changes, and how you can still be successful eating raw foods even if you don’t follow all the rules 100%. Trying to live up to any label – in this case, eating 100% raw foods – will lead you to feeling guilty and shameful if you vary the plan.

The key to making any dietary changes is to adjust these changes so they fit into your life. This is not a short term plan – this is a lifestyle change.

Is Your Home Toxic To Your Health? – Show #10

Craftsman HouseAs we discussed in last week’s podcast, dangerous toxins are found in our environment and they can cause disease and poor health if ignored.

But have you considered the dangerous toxins that can be found in your home? We may feel safe from strangers inside our homes but an alarming amount of toxins are present where we eat, sleep, and play.

In Part 2 of my interview with Dr. Mike Okouchi from http://www.akdocmike.com we discuss some common household toxins, such as unfiltered water, fluoride, and parabins in our shampoos and lotions that can cause tumor growth in breast tissue. Dr. Mike also explains that toxins are released everyday from our carpets and even our laundry detergents.

While this may all sound very depressing, there are certain steps you can take to eliminate some of these toxins and improve our health. These include eating organic foods, cook food using low heat, and using vitamin supplements. Listen in for more information and solutions!
