Goals for New Year 2008
December 30, 2007
What is your Vision for yourself for 2008?
I like to think in terms of a Theme or a Vision for myself, instead of only concentrating on New Year Goals.
Here is what I mean:
1. During the past 10 years, each year, my theme/vision was Freedom
2. This includes health freedom, money freedom, time freedom
3. I created a Vision Board to help keep my focus (some people call this a Dream Board)
4. The Vision Board does contain goals, but within the framework/vision/theme of Freedom
5. One-word Ideas for a Vision or Theme can include: Love, Success, Happiness, Abundance, Prosperity, Wellness, Peace, Harmony
6. My theme for 2008 is Gratitude
During the past 10 years, having a Vision Board has been one of the major keys to success in health, money and time for me. Of course, I used a poster board, and cut out pictures from magazines to create my Vision Board but now we have a wonderful electronic version you can purchase.
Be sure and check it out for yourself and get yourself motivated for 2008!
Let me know what your Vision is for yourself for 2008.
Happy New Year!
With Gratitude

Got something to say?

[...] I ran across a great post at The Cravings Coach Blog and she is talking about having a “Vision Board” and toss the visitor of her blog a hot question. [...]
What a great entry. I think my my theme/vision moving into 2008 will be Harmony!
Harmony: a consistent, orderly, or pleasing arrangement of parts; congruity.
I envision this meaning that my life and all of its important parts: Mothering, wife, friend, coach, business woman, friend, woman..etc will all blend together nicely and no one part will totally snuff out the other as they are all important parts of who I am.
WOW Thanks for this!!
Awesome post! I’ve never thought about picking a theme/vision before so now that the idea has been put before me I think I’ll spend some time thinking about it. Great idea!
Hi Aurelia and Tishia Lee
Thanks so much for commenting on my Vision/Theme idea - and I love your input.
Harmony — oh, and I love the way you describe your vision, Aurelia!
Wishing you both an amazing 2008!
Diana
Oh wow!
What is my vision…can I just steal yours? Just kidding. My vision for 2008 is to have a normal year. Just normal. Average. No drama, no great upheavals. So to put that into a more feeling term - stability, or even peace.
I will sacrifice great success or amazing overwhelming anything for a year happily just to be at peace and have the ability to relax.
Thank you for asking! What a great post!
Great topic. I will have to think about that. A vision and posting it so that I can see it all year long. Great Idea. I will be back to let you know what my vision is going to be.
Great topic Diana! I did up a vision when I was in my candle business and came across it recently - it involved a house on the beach and a big piano, lol.
My vision for this year is a little less grand. I haven’t thought about it much and your post will definitely make me consider it more but for 2008 I think my vision really is going to be organized. I love Aurelia’s description of Harmony and think I want to steal it too! But this year I really see things falling into place with my business where I start to get my finances organized and my time better spent without doing too many of the time wasters that I have this year - which will mean more time as a mother, keeping my house organized, family and friends, etc.
Thanks, Jenny, Tricia and Angela — love your posts - and creating a Vision/Theme really does make us think on a broader scale, doesn’t it?
I know it helps me a lot, because I love to look at my life in the big scheme of things, and this helps me.
Aurelia - Harmony
Tishia Lee - going to think about it
Jenny — Stability/Peace
Tricia - going to think about it
Angela - Organization
Thanks so much for sharing your 2008 Vision and Theme with me and all of us.

Diana love your post! I have Vision Board and I chose Vitality as my theme for 2008. After a couple rough years with cancer, multiple sugeries, hormone craziness, etc… this is the year I reclaim my youth and vitality.
I wish I could put my vision board in a YouTube video!
Oh, Tiffany,
As we’ve become internet friends, and I’ve watched your progress, and how inspiring you are to others, and your courage and strength, I see that Vitality is the perfect theme for you.
Yes — you are amazing, and I know 2008 will be your year to reclaim your youth and vitality!
Diana
Tiffany, why can’t you? did you snag that free version of camtasia? Couldn’t you use that? I’m not sure if it’s still available but if you google free camtasia you might still be able to get it.
[...] A great post by Internet friend Diana reminded me of the power of using a vision board to frame your thoughts and aspirations for the new year. [...]
I actually tried that Angela and had some issues. Cam 5 is not as user friendly as 4 but I did eventually figure it out!
Thanks Diana!
Hmm…I really love Aurelia’s vision word “Harmony” that encompasses much of what I’ve got on my plate. But stealing it feels to much like plagiarizing and the writing gene is too deeply ingrained to ignore it, so I’ve decided to choose the word “Momentum” because 2008 for me isn’t about starting new things or setting new goals as it is about refining the things I’m already doing and setting them free to gain momentum and strength as the year rolls by.
Hi Patrysha!
Yes, you are definitely a writer to the core!!! — and “Momentum” sounds good along with a sub-Vision/sub-Theme of “Strength”
Love it!
Thanks for sharing.

I love this post Diana! Thanks so much for sharing and I think my theme for 2008 will be Clarity. I have lost so much focus (actually not sure I ever truly had it) in my business and personal life and it has caused so much inner turmoil that it is spilling over into every other aspect of my life and it’s time to put a stop to it and so Clarity it is!
I’ve seen something similar when I was doing MLM. I think they called it a “goal board,” but the concept is similar.
I think for 2008, my theme will be “Moving forward.” In fact, there’s a song that we sang at church yesterday called, “Moving Forward.” Here are some of the lyrics:
“I’m not going back, I’m moving ahead
I’m here to declare to you
my past is over
In you all things are made new
Surrender my life to Christ
I’m moving, moving forward”
It’s time to leave the past in the past and move ahead. There’s so much to do, so many things I WANT to do, and dwelling on the past and those mistakes aren’t going to get me there. So, in 2008, I’m Moving Forward.
Arika and Mara,
Thank you so much for participating, and sharing your 2008 Vision/Theme.
It is so wonderful for me to see the thought that goes into this.
“Clarity” and “Moving Forward” are both very insightful.
I wish you much success in living your visions.
Happy New Year!
Diana
world peace can happen if we have more women in the leadership around the world, please don’t think iam a big hillary guy buy i see it all over woman always seek peace first not so for the males..
[...] I was doing a little reading on New Year’s resolutions, and came across Diana’s post about having a Vision Board. What a nice way of keeping track of your goals! [...]
Great post Diana!
I created a Vision Board, but I need to revisit and update it. I also need to find a way to make it more “visible”. I have mine on a blog right now, but I have to remember to look at the blog, lol!
My theme for 2008 is going to be “self care”. I’m so busy taking care of my business and other people that I neglect to take care of myself, so this year, I’m going to take care of me!
Thank you so much, Kristine!
What a wonderful reminder for all us busy moms, we look after everyone else but ourselves, and when we have home-based businesses as well… well, we are all trying to be “Super Mom” —
I love your Vision for 2008 of “Self Care”.
Thanks
Diana
Diana,
Love your theme for this year. My theme, before I even knew of a theme or named mine, was freedom. So now that I’ve read this I can put a name to this year. lol
Awesome, Nell!!!
Freedom is such a wonderful theme — I love it, and let me tell you, having that Theme/Vision for 10 years has worked wonders and miracles in my life… I know it will for you too.
Super!
