Stevia - A Sweet Herb, Many use to replace Sugar
August 2, 2007
Do you have sugar cravings? Stevia is sweet herbal nutrition with virtually zero calories.
I was just talking about how much sugar there is in sodas, and even in sport drinks.
My solution to anything that needs a sweet taste, is to use the wonderful Stevia. This comes from the Stevia plant. I have tasted the leaves of the plant - it tastes so sweet!
Now, many companies process the stevia from the plant. If you find it in a white powder form, please don’t use it. It is too processed.
Be sure and see if you can find one in your health food store that is not processed with alcohol, and is in liquid form. Stevia keeps an even blood sugar level - which is very, very important when we are talking about cravings for sweets.
One of the biggest reasons people crave sweets is when their blood sugar is low.
I just use a squirt of my liquid stevia in wonderful pure water, along with some fresh lemon, and I have an amazing, virtually zero calorie, summer drink for me and my family. Very healthy and refreshing

Got something to say?

Thanks Diana, this was very helpful. I use SweetLeaf stevia and I am so happy with it. I called SweetLeaf and they told me that the way they process their liquid stevia is by taking the white extract powder out and mixing it with purified water. Can I just vent a little and say that I’m very upset with Whole Foods. The reason why is because they don’t carry sweetleaf anymore. They only want to carry their own brand. Argh! Where do you purchase your stevia? Thx
Hi Kim, Thanks for your comments. So glad that my Stevia information is helpful, and that you already are a Stevia user. Isn’t it wondeful, to have the sweet taste, but no calories, and lots of nutritional benefits?
I use 2 Sunrider natural formulas, and if you would like more information, be sure to check out http://www.diana2.com and subscribe to my newsletter where I provide more detailed information on the benefits, and how to purchase the whole food versions that I enjoy.
Thanks again for your question!
