Thank you for joining us for part 2 of our discussion about the dangers of artificial sweeteners.

Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda

Diana Walker: You told me about somebody who got off everything and then had one mint or one stick of gum…

Laury: Yes let’s talk about Cori Brackett. I have her DVD in my hand right now. Yes she is amazing. She is co-founder of Sound and Fury Productions. She used to drink like six diet drinks a day and she was diagnosed with MS and had a very large lesion. She was in a wheelchair, she could hardly walk and she was just literally crippled with MS in a wheelchair. I think she could hardly speak as well. She had done some research on the internet; she could still read so she got on and probably came across a lot of the websites I’m going to give out today. She became very suspicious that she had Aspartame disease because she was such a heavy Diet Coke drinker.

One website I’d like to give right now since I’m going to mention his name is Dr. H. J. Roberts and his website is www.sunsentpress.com He is a medical doctor and he has written a 1,038 page medical journal called Aspartame Disease, an Ignored Epidemic and so Cori became convinced she didn’t have MS she had Aspartame poisoning. She did a 90 day no Aspartame test and walked out of her wheelchair completely symptom free. She did not relapse until somebody gave her a stick of gum and she chewed it and symptoms came back. She thought wow this is dramatic I’m going to do my research on this whole Aspartame thing.

So she produced a movie, a documentary called Sweet Misery a Poisoned World an Industry Case Study of a Food Supply in Crisis. The back of her DVD is great it just says a close examination into what many consider to be a hoax, Aspartame toxicity. This documentary tends to look at what is definitively known about Aspartame that the label hoax in this case is a dangerous misconception.

In a journey through interviews and various lawyers, activists and victims narrator Cori Brackett discovers symptoms to a much larger problem our institution designed to protect the public from harmful substances have failed us.

In a poisoned world victims are found throughout the country and they are finally given a voice. A close examination of the process for approving Aspartame by the FDA leads to earlier examples of revolving door activity and how powerful corporations are influencing once trusted institutions. Today resistance to Aspartame continues as a portrait of this poisoned world offers hope and a remedy.

It is very well done. It is two hours long.

Diana Walker: Really? Oh my gosh.

Laury: Yes because they have many victims on there sharing their stories and they are very dramatic.

Diana Walker: Very very powerful. The website you can order that from is where?

Laury: The website to order this movie is www.soundandfury.tv unless you live in the UK then it would be www.namastepublishing.com.

Diana Walker: Namaste Publishing.com. Ok good. Does she live in the UK?

Laury: No I’ve actually met her. She lives in Tucson Arizona and I’ve bought about three cases of her movies, sold a lot of them but I’ve honestly given a lot of them away too. I just have a passion for it and that’s how I met Betty Martini and let’s talk about Betty Martini for a minute.

She is a wonderful lady. Her and her husband, their website is called Mission Possible World Health International so the abbreviation for her website is www.MPWHI.com Her and her husband Don are just wonderful people spreading the word about Aspartame. She knows more about its interference with prescription drugs and the way it affects the body more than anybody I know.

She has an organization called Mission Possible and it’s a group of global volunteers spreading the word about Aspartame poisoning.

Diana Walker: And you’re one of them? You are actually a part of her group?

Laury: Yes I’m Mission Possible Vista and she has Mission Possible volunteers all over the world. I believe in it so much that I have do you know the truth about Aspartame and Splenda on the back of my Sunrider card and I have all the websites listed and I just pass them out all the time because I want people to know the truth.

Diana Walker: You are an angel. Really it’s so needed this information.

Laury: Another thing I want to focus on before we move to Splenda or sucralose and that’s what people don’t realize is that sucralose is the chemical name for Splenda just like Aspartame is the chemical name for NutraSweet.

Diana Walker: That’s so so deceiving because it sounds like sucrose, it sounds like sugar.

Laury: Absolutely. I think they kind of did that on purpose don’t you?

PREGNANCY AND ASPARTAME, DIET COKES

Diana Walker: I think so.

Laury: I mean you know it just sounds the same. Yeah definitely. I want to talk real quick before we move onto the Splenda about pregnancy and using Aspartame while you are pregnant because Dr. Russell Blaylock has done a lot of research on that and he really warrants against using Aspartame while you are pregnant.

There were some interesting studies that were done to show what would happen if you fed a high dose and that just means what people consume now-a-days. I mean most people consume like one Diet Coke a day or a lot more than that but it doesn’t take very much. That dosage is 50mg or kg a day. So that’s not much. What would happen if we took non pregnant women and pregnant women and fed them aspartame?

Well when you consume Aspartame your blood phenylalanine levels go up, that’s just in amino acid. But if it goes up high enough it starts damaging the brain particularly a forming brain like a baby or a fetus.

There’s this condition we talked about before called Phenylketonuria (PKU) and if you have 6mg of phenylalanine that’s considered toxicity levels in your blood. If you have 10mg that’s considered that you can have brain damage. Now pregnant women do not metabolize the phenylalanine like a non pregnant woman.

Babies actually concentrate the phenylalanine so in the pregnant woman her blood is concentrated by the placenta and the baby’s phenylalanine content is twice as high as the mothers. So this is absolutely known to cause brain damage and lower the IQ of babies and people are not being told.

Diana Walker: Oh my gosh. Please repeat that. That needs to be repeated. I see so many pregnant moms drinking diet sodas and you know I’m very aware and I think inside oh that’s too bad but I’ve never felt this strongly. Say that all again. That last little bit.

Laury: Well basically what people need to understand is that when you are pregnant and ingesting the Aspartame because it causes your phenylalanine content to rise in your blood what will happen is the placenta is feeding the baby right?

Diana Walker: Right

Laury: So the baby is getting concentrated phenylalanine and if you test that the baby’s phenylalanine content is twice as high as the mother who is ingesting it.

Diana Walker: Wow the baby doesn’t have a chance.

Laury: Not even your liver can; you know your liver is your detoxification organ right? Not even your liver can protect the baby from the damage that you are doing if you are dirking diet drinks.

I’m sorry if you are listening to this right now and you are concerned or shocked or infuriated you should be because we are not getting this information from our doctor but it is never too late to stop. If you are in the middle of a pregnancy and drinking diet drinks just stop. Just stop and pray and ask God to protect your baby. I believe in the power of prayer and ignorance is bliss but when you are given the proper information and you know the truth you can’t ignore the truth any longer.

Diana Walker: Exactly.

Laury: I just want to encourage people. There is a diagram on one of these websites and I can’t remember which one it is but it’s a diagram of a brain on fire and that’s literally what’s happening to you because Aspartame is such an excitotoxin like MSG. It’s proven that MSG can make you fat.

Betty Martini has a saying “if you want to be fat aspartame is where it’s at”. If you notice the people who are drinking, pushing that Diet Coke button in the restaurant that you see and ordering the diet cokes are terribly obese.

Diana Walker: Oh my gosh. It’s not funny.

SPLENDA, SUCRALOSE HEALTH RISKS

Laury: They aren’t doing themselves any favors. Let’s move onto Splenda because honestly the public awareness is up on aspartame. There is no doubt that sales are down and that people are avoiding it. I believe they are because why are these big huge 12 packs of Diet Coke going on sale for $2.00 at the store? That happens all the time, sometimes they are on sale for $1.00.

Diana Walker: Yeah so people are starting to shy away from that.

Laury: I’ve got a thing I can email you, a document that I can email you produced by Dr. James Bowen. He’s a medical Dr., a physician and a Biochemist and he is on this Sweet Misery DVD so is Russell Blaylock and so is Betty Martini. I mean she has just done her homework on that DVD. It’s so excellent. He produced a piece of information that he is hoping that will circulate around the internet so I’ll be emailing you that so you can get it out to your list. It’s called The Lethal Science of Splenda, A Poisonous Polycarbon. I want to read a couple excerpts from here.

James Bowen MD, a physician, biochemist and a survivor of Aspartame poisoning warns about yet another synthetic sweetener called Splenda. This chemical sucralose which is marketed as Splenda has replaced Aspartame as the number one artificial sweetener in foods and beverages today. Aspartame is slowly being forced out somewhat by increasing public awareness that it is both a neurotoxin and an underlying cause of chronic illness world wide.

And he says Splenda; a sucralose is simply chlorinated sugar. It’s a Chlorocarbon. There are many common Chlorocarbons which include like carbon tetrachloride for instance. They are all deadly. It doesn’t matter what Chlorocarbon you are referring to. It’s basically chlorinated sugar and chlorine is natures Doberman attack dog.

Sucralose is a molecule of sugar chemically manipulated to surrender three hydroxyl groups. (You can tell he’s a biochemist). Hydrogen + Oxygen and it replaces them with three chlorine atoms. Natural sugar is a hydrocarbon built around 12 carbon atoms. When turned into Splenda it becomes a Chlorocarbon in the family of chlordane, lindane and DDT.

It is logical for people to ask why table salt which also contains chlorine is safe while Splenda or Sucralose is toxic. Because salt isn’t a Chlorocarbon. When molecular chemistry binds sodium to chlorine to make salt carbon isn’t used in the process. Sucralose and salt are as different as oil and water.

So he goes on and on for the scientific mind who really wants a lot of background information. It’s about 2 1/2 pages typed but I can just say I’ve read on lot on all the different websites and from what I have gathered it’s damaging to your thymus gland. The animals they had, because they do lots of animal studies with these artificial sweeteners, if we knew how many animals were suffering every day with the testing that goes on we probably wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. It’s really sad. But anyway in animal tests Splenda produced swollen livers and thymus gland, cancerous tumors on the thymus gland. Your thymus gland is the key to your immune system.

Diana Walker: Exactly.

Laury: For people who go I don’t really know what a thymus is what is it? I don’t really know what it is either but I know that it is passionately connected to your immune system. It’s the key to your whole immune system and if you are ingesting a poison that is damaging your liver and your thymus gland you aren’t going to be very healthy.

Diana Walker: Exactly. Oh my goodness. This is unbelievable. It’s way more information than I had studied myself. I know a lot of people are going to be shocked with this but it’s better to learn now and get off all of that.

I have cravings for sweets really bad.
I actually feel angry and irritable when i cut down or out. I otherwise eat very healthy, no high frutose corn syrup in my food but I do drink it in reg soda, no ASPARTAME or splenda, I use organic cane surgar. I just simply crave sweets I even started eating organic sweets and this helped but candy is still junk. Mostly the cravings are at night. Soda is my biggest problem I believe it is the high frutose corn syrup I am addicted to. Although when I have come off soda I replaced it with home brewed tea with sugar. I think this is better but still why do I have such a strong craving for sugar in any form??? I need some help because I know this is destructive but the withdraw is intense. Can you recommend anything.

    Hi Jess!
Thanks for commenting on my blog.

Yes, there is lots of hope for you - this is common.

You are doing well to not be using the Aspartame or Splenda drinks and your craving is for the High Fructose Corn Syrup. I see you have signed up for my Cravings Coach newsletter, and I will be providing some information there.

Also, I have solutions at my Diana’s Healthy Lifestyles website.

One of the best ways to come off sodas of all kinds is using the Sunrider Fortune Delight - see http://www.diana2.com/sunrider_fortune_delight.html along with the Sunrider Stevia at http://www.diana2.com/sunnydew.html

We have had much success with this combination, and people notice that drinking this combination helps tremendously with losing the desire for the sodas with high fructose corn syrup.

I’ll be in touch with you.

I Have seizures and some of them came from a head injury but I know now for a fact that some of them are triggered to the alergic reaction to aspertame.

  7. DianaWalker on September 14th, 2008 8:07 am

    Hi Sandy
Thanks for sharing your story with us. Sorry to hear that you had a head injury. Interesting that you have found that some of the seizures have been triggered by allergic reaction to aspartame. Yes, our body can’t heal when it is constantly bombarded with negative, chemical input.
    Wishing you Vibrant Health!
    Diana
