Weight Management - Raw Foods Dr Oz Green Drink
March 17, 2008

Raw foods are becoming more and more popular for weight management.
You could start your day like this (this is my son’s invention for a morning drink):
Gabe’s Vegetable Green Drink Recipe
Whiz up in the blender, the following
Celery, 6 inches
Cucumber, 6 inches
1 Carrot, 8 inches
1 Tomato, medium
Add distilled or purified water, about 1 cup
Blend - well it does look more red/orange because it is not all green!
Drink! You will grow accustomed to it, if you don’t immediately love it - and you know you’ve already had lots of vegetables to start your day.
Dr. Oz on Oprah has a Green Drink Recipe (my son invented his 4 years ago)…
As featured on Oprah, here are the ingredients for the Dr. Oz Green Drink Recipe:
2 apples, cored
2 big handfuls of spinach
half cup chopped parsley
1 celery stick, chopped
1 inch length of ginger root, peeled
1 lemon - juice only
1 medium cucumber
Place ingredients in a blender, add 4 ounces of spring water, or a handful of ice cubes, then puree quickly for one minute. Makes 2 glasses of Dr. Oz’s green drink.
Drinking either of these green drinks will help to reduce cravings for junk food, sugar, and processed foods by providing power packed nutrition, which means your body is not always hungry and searching for something else to fill it.
The raw foods and power packed nutrition can lead to weight management and weight loss.

Hey Diana!
It’s just before breakfast (well actually closer to lunch but I just woke up a little while ago, hehe) and I thought I’d search around for some smoothies or something healthy to have for breakfast. See, I AM actually serious about eating right! Don’t know if I can go for this drink right away because it sounds like it would taste awefull so I’ll to work up to that one.
I just wanted to say thanks so much for providing all the great recipes here for free on your blog!
Angela
Hi Angela!
Oh, how great to get your comment…. You know, baby steps is the way to do it, right? When we think about changing old habits it is so easy to get overwhelmed.
If you like a particular fruit, start to have 1 every day. Then if you have a green vegetable you like, be sure to have a serving of that (raw or lightly steamed, every day). Even if you make 1 new change consistently every day for a month, by the end of a year, there would be 12 new healthy habits that you have!!
Yes, I plan to provide even more recipes - that seems to be a popular item - in the upcoming months!
Thanks again for dropping by, and have a Healthy & Happy Day!
Diana
I’m looking forward to giving some of these recipes I’m a try. Like Angela said it sounds like it would taste awful so she will work her way up to it - I’m with her on that one.
I’m finally starting to get tired of living off the salads, like I was sharing about on Mom’s Morning Show when you joined us, I’ve been living on so I’m ready to start incorporating other food/drinks into my diet. And what better way than to start with some smoothies!
Thanks for all the recipes you share!
