A raw food diet makes you feel fantastic but in no way is it environmentally sustainable: "One of the best “byproducts” of raw foodism is that it’s an environmentally friendly lifestyle. There is far less wrapping and packaging involved in the transport and retail of fresh fruits, vegetables, beans and nuts than processed foods."

This statement speaks to the disregard of where food is coming from and how it gets here. Avocados, almonds, walnuts, bananas, oranges, mangos, etc. are not grown in most of North America, especially where the raw food diet is centralized. These food must travel thousands of miles and be processed and preserved with chemicals that jeopardize the nutritional content as well as the environment. Mass consumption of flax seed, sunflower seeds, nuts and other labor-intensive products are not at all sustainable for the human race and characterize that Westernized feeling of entitlement without even knowing the damage being done. Not to mention those of whom are exploited along the way for their services in harvesting fruit and seeds notoriously known for being associated with social injustice.
